Mangalore,. Feb 9, 2013 : Women’s empowerment is vital to achieve sustainable development. Employment and Empowerment of women will also go a long way in poverty eradication, said Dr NK Tingalaya, Chairman, Academic Council, Justice K S Hegde Institute of Management, Nitte.
He was delivering the Mother Josephine Memorial Lecture - 2013 with the theme "Empowerment of Women through Employment - Some Relevant Issues", at the St Agnes College of Education hall on February 9, Saturday. The lecture was organized by the Alumnae Association of the College.
Dr Tingalaya further said women can be empowered in the true sense when both men and women begin to respect and recognize the contributions of women. He said in India there were less women employees in the banking, health, education and police force and stressed the need for women to develop interest in these fields.
