Mangalore, Nov 8: A glider pilot, a 54-year-old man from Epping, lost control of his glider, crashed to the ground, and died on the spot in Mangalore airstrip this afternoon.

Police sources reported that the pilot was just about to launch his glider at around 1:30 p.m., when it rolled to one side, lost speed, and crashed to the ground. When the accident took place, the glider was 40-50 feet above ground level and travelling at a speed of 75 kph.

Currently, the police are preparing a report for the coroner; and the Australian Transport Safety Bureau has been informed of the incident.
