Expat entrepreneur remembers air hostess Sujatha Survase

Mangalore Today News Network

Mangalore, May 26:  Dr. B. R. Shetty, a businessman based in Dubai, was shocked when he heard about the Mangalore plane crash and that air hostess Sujatha Survase was no more. He was one of the last people to receive her services before she breathed her last.

Shetty first met Sujatha on a flight to Abu Dhabi before she boarded the ill-fated flight IX-812 to Mangalore. He was returning from Mangalore to Abu Dhabi on Thursday by an Air India Express.

Shetty says that the air hostess was excellent. He recalled an incident in which a co-passenger had a fit of coughing while landing and she brought him a glass of water. Sujatha spoke enthusiastically about her job and about how much she liked it, he recalled.

The businessman said that he was shocked to hear the news of the plane crash because he was probably one of the last people to see her before she died. He landed in Abu Dhabi on Thursday at 1:30 p.m. and the same aircraft took off from Dubai on the early morning of Saturday, he said and added that the incident was very disturbing.

A condolence meeting was arranged at the Indian Social Centre in Abu Dhabi yesterday. The members decided to form a committee to send donations to the victims. Shetty said that the committee will try to get local associations involved in this project.
