Expert says automation will take away 60 percent jobs soon

Mangaluru, Oct 29, 2017: Ganesh Natarajan, executive chairman and founder, 5F World, Skills and Global Talent Track; addressing the 15th convocation ceremony of the National Institute of Technology- Karnataka (NIT-K), Surathkal on October 28, Saturday. Automation will soon snatch away traditional jobs in manufacturing sector and there is challenge ahead to prepare oneself to fit in other avenues.

Advising young graduates about future job markets, he gave an overview of current industry scenario and what the companies are expecting from prospective employees. "We get to hear something shocking or interesting development when we wake up next morning. Soon there will be 60 percent job cuts and it will be taken away by automation. Other challenge is that India needs to create three million jobs in coming years. However, major challenge is that how one should prepare to fit into future job requirements."

The other avenues of job creations are intersections of science that include visual art, music and others. "Most demanding job of all will be storytelling", he pointed out.   He asked student to dream big and chase the goal till you realize it.  1,523 students graduated

At the convocation, degree was awarded to 1,523 in BTech, MTech, MTech (Research), MCA, MBA, MSc and PhD.

As many as 823 students were awarded BTech degrees, 616 students were awarded PG degrees, 26 students were awarded MTech (Research) degree and 58 students were awarded doctoral degree during the convocation. This year 36 students were decorated with endowment gold and silver medals, and two students were felicitated with cash prizes.
