Mangalore, July 14, 2014: Reports have come in that CPM State Committee Secretary G V Srirama Reddy has termed the railway budget of Railway Minister D V Sadananda Gowda as a budget without any social commitment.
Speaking to media persons , he stated that the government has recently hiked the rail fare by 14.2 per cent and freight charges by 6.5 per cent. The increase in the fare will create additional income to the government. The proposal on the FDI is not desirable. The government has already planned to outsource eight railway stations, which is simply privatisation of railways.
Regarding the police firing at farmers in Kudagi, he said that judicial inquiry will not bring out the truth. The authorities should suspend the police personnel who had fired at the farmers. He accused the state government of not making any preparations to tackle drought in the state. On cash for seat row, he said that the politics is commercialised. CPI (M) District Working Committee Members Yadav Shetty, Vasanth Shetty and others were also present along with a good gathering.
