Mangaluru, Feb 16, 2015: The director of the first crowd-funded Kannada film Pawan Kumar was thought to be a terrorist because people were sending money to his account from different countries.
Delivering a talk for journalism students of St. Aloysius College here, Mr. Kumar said the officials even froze his account for some time and there was an enquiry against him.
Though he did not reveal how he wriggled out of it, he mentioned that his idea for the film Lucia – title meant to suggest lucid dreams – went on to get Rs. 51 lakh from 110 strangers.
Amid claps from the crowd, he said his was the first Kannada film simultaneously released in all metros along with Bengaluru and several parts of Karnataka.
It was also exhibited in an international forum in London (London Indian Film Festival), the first Kannada film to get the honour.
He also has to his credit Kannada films like Manasare and Lifu Ishtene.
