Mangalore, May 3: Motoroiods.com Club India, an international online community of auto enthusiasts, organized a meet for the first time in Mangalore at Mangala Stadium on May 2, Sunday. The programme included an introductory session followed by a talk on motorcycle safety and importance of using helmets.
An awareness rally, which commenced at Mangala Stadium and ended at Tannirbavi, also formed part of the event. The rally comprised 35 bikes and 5 cars; and more than 50 motor enthusiasts participated. The purpose was to emphasize the use of helmets and other safety issues related to motorcycle riding. The organizers had invited the motorcycle division of the Mangalore Patrol Unit of Traffic Police. A police jeep escorted the participants.
Meghan Naik, the convener of the event and the chief representative of Motoroids, said that he was pleased with the overwhelming response and the support of the district administration. Thilak Rao, the representative of Motoroids, said that the first attempt to unite auto buffs in Mangalore was a roaring success, adding that Motoroids would like to organize many more events in collaboration with other auto clubs.
Shawn Fernandez, the proprietor of “Not Just Blinds,” said that the event was an excellent attempt to bring auto enthusiasts together. Managing Director of Ashiba Group said that it is a pleasure to be part of the event. Love Joy, a student of MSc Psychology at Roshni Nilaya, School of Social Work, said that road safety is an essential issue, especially in Mangalore. Meraj, a passionate rider, said that he was delighted to be part of this event.
