Fisherman dies while trying to rescue others

Mangalore, July 21, 2012: A man was swept away by strong waves when he was trying to rescue two other people at Kotapura Kodi in Ullal on July 21, Saturday.

The deceased is Michael D’Souza, a fisherman of Uliya in Ullal. Two fishermen Jayaram and David fell into the sea when their fishing boat turned over at 6:30 this morning. Michael rushed to their rescue and succeeded in saving them, but was swept away by giant waves. 

Police and local people are now trying to retrieve his body.
