Fishermen to rally in protest - Feb,13

Feb 13, 2015: Former Kerala Chief Minister V S Achyuthanandan will address a gathering during the protest rally organised by All India Fishermen & Fishermen Workers Federation (AIFFWF) on February 13 at Malpe bus stop.

AIFFWF Udupi District President K Shankar said the rally would be held for two days demanding hike in budgetary provision available for fishing trade.  Government should extened social security measures to all fishermen at national-level. Shankar demanded foreigners involved in fishing in India should be banned. Measures should be taken to conserve fishing species in the country, he said, adding government should take measures to ensure BPL cards to all fishermen.  The AIFFWF president also stated that government should initiate actions to support the traditional fishing through introducing efficiency in the distribution of kerosene at subsidised rates.
