Five arrested in treasure hunt case

Mangaluru, Feb 6, 2017: The Vitla police have arrested five persons for allegedly tying up inmates of a house and digging up a portion of their land for treasure.

The arrested have been identified as Iqbal (22), Mohammed Ali (29), Abbas (26), and Ashraf (21), all from Bantwal and Ashiq P. from Paivalike in Kerala.

The five were among a group of robbers who entered the house of Vignaraj in Karopady village in the early hours of January 24. After tying Vignaraj to a pillar in the house, the accused dug up a portion of Vignaraj’s land for hidden treasure.

Having failed to get anything, they left the house with the recording of the CCTV camera installed by Vignaraj.

A special police team was set up to trace the accused. The police are on the lookout for three more persons.
