Oct 10, 2016: Speaking after inaugurating ’Forensicon-2016’, the 13th annual conference of South India Medico Legal Association (SIMLA) and pre-conference workshop on ’Forensic Ballistics and Firearm Demonstration’ at K S Hegde Medical Academy, Nitte University here, M Chandra Sekhar , Mangaluru city police commissioner said that  the investigations that are supported by  solid foundation of forensic evidence will never let down the investigators in the law processes.

The top cop said a witness may turn hostile, but material evidence will never fail. Although there is an advancement in the field of forensic sciences, the knowledge has not percolated to the level where it should have been. Policing and forensic science are interconnected. Mangaluru has always been lucky to have a best forensic team that helped in solving many cases," he added.

Bhushan G Bhorase, superintendent of police, said like other countries, India also should have separate department/teams for forensic investigations.
