Mangalore, Dec 17: The inaugural function of CME on Head and Neck Imaging was organized in the Conference Hall of Fr Muller Medical College Hospital on Dec 13, Sunday, at 9:45 a.m.
Dr. Naveenchandra Shetty, the professor of the Department of Radio-Diagnosis and Imaging, K.M.C., Mangalore, was the chief guest. Fr. Patrick Rodrigues, the director of Fr. Muller Charitable Institutions, presided over the programme. Fr. Denis D’Sa, the administrator of Father Muller Medical College; Dr. B. Sanjeev Rai, the chief of medical services; Dr. J. P. Alva, the dean of Fr Muller Medical College Hospital; Dr. H. B. Suresh, the professor and head of the department of radio diagnosis and imaging; and Dr. Nabil Sherif Mahmood, the assistant professor and organizing secretary of the department of radio diagnosis and imaging, were the dignitaries on the dais.
Dr.H. B. Suresh formally welcomed the dignitaries and the delegates. The dignitaries then inaugurated the programme by lighting the lamp. In his inaugural speech, Dr. Naveenchandra Shetty said about Fr. Muller Institution and appreciated the excellent service it offers. He said that Fr. Muller Medical College is a premier post graduate training institute and has a well-equipped Department of Radiology and Imaging.
Dr. B. Sanjeev Rai spoke about the importance of the role played by a radiologist in the diagnosis of various diseases. He spoke of how radio diagnosis has advanced over the years.
Dr. J. P. Alva lauded the efforts of the organizing committee and reminded the delegates about the importance of developing sound knowledge of the basic sciences that form the foundation of a qualified clinician.
Fr. Patrick Rodrigues, in his presidential address, spoke about the importance of surgical and medical departments interacting in a healthy manner with the radiology department.
Dr. Nabil Sherif Mahmood delivered the vote of thanks, which was followed by the singing of the Fr Muller anthem. This marked the end of the inaugural programme of the CME.
Dr. Radhesh S., the director and chief Radiologist of the Clumax Diagnostic and Research Centre, Bangalore; Dr.V. R. K. Rao, the professor and head of the department of radio diagnosis and imaging at K.M.C. Manipal; Dr. Devadas Acharya, the associate professor of the department of radio diagnosis and imaging at Yenepoya Medical College; and Dr. Ashvini Kumar, the professor of the department of radio diagnosis and imaging at K.M.C. Mangalore delivered informative guest lectures.
Over 150 delegates, including consultants and post graduates from the departments of radio diagnosis, Oto-rhino-laryngology, Ophthalmology, and other allied branches, had participated in the CME.
Dr. Nabil Sherif Mahmood and Dr. Ram Shenoy Basti conducted a quiz for the post graduates who had attended the CME. The first and the second prizes were won by Dr. Merwyn and Dr.Venkatesh respectively.
