Gale winds uproot hundreds of trees, electricity poles at Hebri

Udupi, July 3, 2016: Hundreds of trees were uprooted along the highway, from Padigar to Vaddameshwara, which, in turn, disrupted the movement of vehicles on the road till 10 am. The transformer at the Hebri-Manipal Mescom sub-division was also damaged, due to which, the power supply in the region got interrupted, as also at least a hundred electric poles fell to the ground.

The Mescom officials started fixing the poles and are hopeful of restoring power supply. The asbestos sheets of the Padigar Bannampalli school and a hotel flew away. Over 20 houses have been damaged.

Kaup legislator Vinay Kumar Sorake visited the area and directed the officials to hand over the compensation for the loss of property at the earliest.
