Mangalore, Nov 10, 2012 : Speaking at the inauguration ceremony of a government research center, an incubation centre, and a placement and training center for technical students at Sahyadri College of Engineering and Management in Mangalore on Saturday, State Higher Education Minister and District-in-charge Minister C. T. Ravi said that the need of the hour is to establish many research centres so that the country can regain its lost glory.
Stating that students from all over the world used to flock to the Universities of Nalanda and Takshashila, he said that it was Aryabhata who first spoke about the earth’s shapes and the number of days in a year. Further, he said that the Qutub Minar stands testimony to the immense scientific knowledge of Indians as the building had stood for a long time without catching rust. Stating that the God Particle was spoken of by Indian scientists several years before, he said that Indians have forgotten their past glory because of years of slavery.
Former CM D. V. Sadananda Gowda also addressed the gathering.
Among those present were MP Nalin Kumar Kateel, MLA Krishna J. Palemar, VTU Vice Chancellor Dr. Maheshappa, and others.
