Mangaluru, April 7, 2016: Speaking to media after the association’s State committee meeting,   Karnataka State Government Employees Association may resort to strike if the government does not heed its demand for pay parity with that of Union government employees, association president B.P. Manje Gowda has said  that Chief Minister Siddaramaiah had disappointed the employees in the budget by not making an announcement on pay revision.

While the Union government employees have benefited from the Seventh Pay Commission, the State government employees are still under the Sixth Pay Commission.  Reports of both the commissions are rife with defects and the employees are agitating against them, he said.

During his recent meeting, the Chief Minister orally promised the association that their demands would be fulfilled in 2017,  Manje Gowda said.   However, office-bearers of the association have a strong suspicion that it [assurance] was only eyewash.

A final decision on the strike and its nature, whether a one-day token strike or an indefinite one, would be taken during the State committee meeting soon it was stated.
