Udupi, Apr 07, 2016: Reports reveal that thieves broke into three houses in the government quarters located at Udupi, Ajjarkad and took away gold and silver items worth Rs. 1.36 lakh.
The police said thieves broke into the house of one Sudhakar, an employee of Fire and Emergency Services, between 6 p.m. on April 4 and 7 a.m. on April 5 and made good with gold ornaments including chains, two bangles, a bracelet, a ring and a pair of earrings. The value of all these ornaments is estimated at Rs. 1 lakh. Thieves broke into the house of Medical Officer of Blood Bank, Shashikumar S.D. located at government hospital quarters, between 8 p.m. on April 1 and 7.30 p.m. on April 5, and took away gold and silver ornaments. The total value of all items is estimated at Rs. 12,000. And thieves also broke into the house of Dharmappa K.T., Excise Inspector, which is located in Ajjarkad, between April 2 and April 5 and made good with silver items and a camera. The value of items had been estimated at Rs. 24,000. Investigations and searches are in progress.
