Mangaluru, Feb 16, 2015: A meeting of members of Dakshina Kannada district’s Juvenile Justice Board, Child Welfare Committee, Childline, Special Juvenile Police Unit, NGOs and officials of various departments was held and various issues pertaining to children, women and elderly were discussed.
According to plans, helpdesks will be set up in SP office premises to redress issues of women, children and the elderly. "We have invited Vishwas Trust, an NGO, Mangaluru Childline and Women Helpline, to depute their members to set up a helpdesk in our office so that we can start functioning jointly. Space will be provided at the office reception," superintendent of police S D Sharanappa told the media.
In Schools : Plans to introduce measures for the safety of children in schools and colleges, especially girls is under consideration. Once finalized, directions to the institutions to implement measures to ensure students’ safety, informed the SP. He explained that the department has discussed various options, provisions and schemes available for the protection of women, children and senior citizens.
