Puttur, June 17, 2013 : In this materialistic world where many a people are selfish to the core, some exemplary shows of honesty come as a silver lining. In one such case, an autorickshaw driver from Emmekere in Mangalore, has turned a role model to many more, by returning a bag of valuables left behind by a passenger in his autorickshaw.
On June 13, Yusuf alias Isubu of Patrame in Belthangady who had returned from Saudi Arabia had arrived at Pumpwell by a bus and had boarded an autorickshaw to the bus stand to catch a bus to Uppinangady. However, in his haste to board the bus, he left his bag containing his laptop, mobile phone, visa, passport and a gold chain among other things, in the autorickshaw of Praveen.
Praveen who noticed the bag in his autorickshaw, handed it over to the police who contacted its rightful owner who arrived on June 15 and collected the bag from Praveen in the presence of ACP (Central) Kavitha.
Praveen later revealed how earlier when a fellow auto man on coming to know about the bag, had claimed that he knew its owner Isubu and even telephoned him that the bag could be collected if he was paid Rs 20,000.On coming to know of his foul play Praveen handed over the bag to the police who have now seen to it that it reached its rightful owner.
