Mangalore, Nov 10: The 13th award ceremony of the Indian Catholic Youth Movement (ICYM) was organized on the grounds of Kinnigoli Church, on Nov 7, Saturday evening.
The award ceremony marked the end of a 3-day National Youth Conference organized at the Divine Call Center Hall in Karnad, Mulky. Twenty-six young people from 13 provinces received awards in recognition of their service to society. These young people wore the traditional costumes of their respective regions and participated in a procession that made its way from Rajangana to the grounds of Kinnigoli Church.
The youth from 13 provinces organized a variety of cultural programmes, depicting the culture, tradition, and lifestyle of their respective regions.
During this occasion, Fr. Abraham Virathukulangara, the archbishop of Nagpur, formally handed over the documents of 15 acres of land in Nagpur, which he had donated for the purpose of youth activities, to Fr. Alwyn M J D’Souza the national director of ICYM.
Fr Aloysius Paul D’Souza, bishop of Mangalore presided over the programme; and the chief guest was MLA Abhay Chandra Jain. The guests of honor were Fr. Vincent Samuel, member bishop of CBCI Commission for Youth; the archbishop of Nagpur; Abrahan Virathukalangara, the former tourism minister of Karnataka; Dr D J Alexander; and Ivan D’Souza, the notary and advocate.
