Mangalore, Dec 19: “Banks have always played a significant role in the insurance industry, helping companies carry the benefits of insurance to a larger number of people in a cost-effective manner,” said N K Kedia, the marketing director of IFFCO-TOKIO General Insurance Co. Ltd (ITGI). He was addressing press people at a press conference organized in Deepa Comfort on Dec 19, Saturday.
N K Kedia also said that the merger of IFFCO with 24 cooperative banks in Dakshina Kannada and Udupi districts will benefit the total customer base of these cooperator banks, which comprise more than 10,000 people.

“IFFCO Tokio has taken the initiative in bringing the benefits of insurance to a large number of people through its portfolio of innovative general insurance products. The merger will give IFFCO an opportunity to provide its innovative insurance products and services to the customers of these 24 banks. The agreement has delighted IFFCO, especially because it gives the company a chance to leverage the cooperative banks’ extensive reach and comprehensive knowledge of the local region. We are sure that the banks’ customers will benefit from this partnership,” he said.
N K Kedia said that some of the insurance products and services in the company’s portfolio are the Janatha Bhima Policy, which commences from Rs 100 - Rs 10,000, as well as a model for a crop insurance policy.
