Bangalore, June 5, 2012: SR Patil, State Minister for Information Technology has informed that the government would consider the proposal to set up an IT Park in Mangalore.
Speaking to reporters here, the minister said steps would be taken to extend Information Technology zones to tier-II cities of the state in a phased manner. There are plans to permit IT companies in Mangalore, Mysore Davangere, Tumkur, Hubli-Dharwad, Belgaum and Gulbarga, he said.
If the current business from the IT sector stood at Rs 1.35 crores, there are plans to increase it to Rs 4 crores, he said adding if the IT industry presently offered 8 lakh jobs, it has been targeted to increase it to 20 lakhs.
He said the government was committed to create a conducive atmosphere for the growth of the IT sector. All possible assistance including basic infrastructural facilities would be provided, he assured.
