Inmates of DK District Prison celebrate Id

July 07, 2016: Reports of good celebtations for Eid-al-fitr fervour across the city on July 6, Wednesday are evident in spite of the heavy rain. Yet it was marked in the Mangaluru District Prison that has nearly 150 Muslims.

Around 9 a.m. Muslim inmates assembled in the B block of the prison and  held  Eid Namaz.  This was followed by sermon by progressive Moulvis who spoke of the need for inmates to lead a righteous life. The speakers also stressed on building solidarity among inmates and emphasised on the need to respect the law of the land. The sermon went on for nearly an hour and was attentively heard by all present. A festive spirit was evident all through the day.
