Mangalore, Nov 26, 2012: Mangalore, Nov 26, 2012: Kudla Kudru, an island getaway near Sulthan Battery that promises to become a tourist hotspot, was inaugurated on Nov 25, Sunday.
MLA Krishna J. Palemar said in his inaugural address that a number of islands in and around Mangalore are largely unknown and people are afraid to go there out of fear of getting drowned. He said that it is a good idea to develop these islands as tourist hotspots.
Commenting on the use of the word Kudru, which means island, he said that it will arouse curiosity among tourists and popularize the culture of Tulunad.
Among those present were Deputy Speaker N. Yogish Bhat and Mayor Gulzar Banu.
Kudla Kudru can be accessed via boat service. A number of food stalls serving snacks, ice creams, and non vegetarian dishes have been set up on the island.
