Mangaluru, Aug 1 2019: Sri Balakrishna Mandira at Kumpala in Someshwara village will celebrate Sri Krishna Janmasthami celebrations on August 23.
Mandira president Satish Kumpala told media at Patrika Bhavan that a ‘mantapa’, pedestal and a new idol of Lord Sri Krishna, all made out of silver at a cost of Rs 15 lakh, were ready.
The idol will be consecrated today August 19, Monday at 5 pm. Rishi Hardware, Mangaluru proprietor Satish Karkera will initiate the programme.
The Sri Krishna Janmasthami Utsava will be held on August 23. Religious rituals will be held in the morning. A formal programme will be held at 4 pm.
The procession of Sri Krishna’s idol will be taken out at 7 pm from the Mandira to Chethana Nagara. Cultural programmes will be held at the Government Higher Primary and High School Grounds in Kumpala later.
Various competitions will be conducted for schoolchildren in the morning, he added.
Sri Balakrishna Mandira vice-president Chandrashekhar B J, general secretary Ravindra Kumpala, Utsava committee president Prakash Kumpala, general convener Ganesh Shilpi and office-bearer Chethan Shetty were present in the press meet.
