Jewelry pledged by customers missing from Bank, investigation on

Udupi, March 30, 2016: Reports say,  town police registered a case against five staff of Allahabad Bank on Kanakadasa Road for reportedly misusing jewelry worth several lakhs that was pledged by customers.

As per primary investigations, jewelry belonging to six customers is said to be missing. Based on a complaint by bank manager Bimal Krishnan, cases were registered against staff KH Pai, Deb Prasad, Satish Shettigar, Bhaskar and Sharath Kumar.

The incident came to light on March 10 when Shobha went to bank to take back the jewelry after clearing the loan. However, the bank found that her jewelry was missing. On March 16, when the Chief Manager at the Zonal Office checked the documents, it was found that jewelry pledged by six customers was missing.

Taj Mohammad from Mallar Kapu, Krishnananda Nayak from Barkur, Prathibha Rao from Thenkapete Udupi, Shakunthala from Thenkanidiyoor and Shridhar Rao from Thenkepete, Udupi are those whose jewelry was missing.Investigations are on.
