John B Monteiro elected president of Rachana Catholic Chamber of Commerce & Industry

Mangaluru, Sept 24, 2023: John B. Monteiro has been elected as the President of the Rachana Catholic Chamber of Commerce and Industry. The organization convened its Annual General Meeting on September 23rd, at 7 pm, hosted at the Jubilee Hall within St. Sebastian Church, Bendur.

During this meeting, the members elected the governing body and office bearers of Rachana for the 2023 - 2025 term. John B. Monteiro assumed the role of President, Naveen Lobo became the Vice President, Vijay Vishwas Lobo took on the role of Secretary, Walter D’Cunha became the Joint Secretary, and Nelson Monteiro was named the Treasurer. Additional members include Eulalia D’Souza, CA Vikram Saldanha, Stany Alvares, Roshan Antony D’Souza, Alwyn Prakash Sequeira, and Lavina S. Monteiro.

In his acceptance speech, newly elected President John Monteiro expressed his honor at being unanimously chosen for the role of President of Rachana. He emphasized the organization’s commitment to service, quoting the adage "to give is better than to receive." He sought the blessings and guidance of former presidents and senior members, acknowledging their significant contributions to Rachana over the past 25 years. In addition, he called for wholehearted support and encouragement from all Rachana members and well-wishers during the organization’s Silver Jubilee Year.

The Annual General Meeting was attended by various prominent individuals, including J.R. Lobo, former MLA of Mangalore South; Roy Castelino, PRO Diocese of Mangalore; Luvi J. Pinto, President of Maand Sobhaan Kalangan; Gilbert D’Souza, Vice President of the World Konkani Centre; Marjorie Texeira, President of the Christian Planters Guild; Marcel Monteiro, former PRO Diocese of Mangalore; Ronald Gomes, former Governor of Lions Club International; Rudolph Rodrigues, a leading Chartered Accountant; Ullas Rasquinha, President of The Sodality of Immaculate Conception; Alwyn D’Souza, President of the Catholic Sabha; Voilet Pereira from mangalorean.com; John V Tauro of Belle Vision; and Donald Pereira of budkulo.com.
