Mangalore, Dec 3: The Kadri Academy will celebrate the Shastiabdhapoorthy (60th birthday) of the internationally acclaimed saxophonist Padmashree Dr Gopalnath at Ravindra Kala Bhavan of University College, Mangalore, on Dec 7, Monday, at 5:45 p.m.
A press conference was held today to provide information about the event. Rameshnath, the brother of Kadri Gopalnath, said that Saptagiri Vidhwanmani A Kanyakumari of Chennai and Pandit Praveen Godkhindi of Bangalore will present a violin-basuri jugalbandi to celebrate the 60th birthday of the musician.
Rameshnath also said that Vidhwan B Hari Kumar of Trichy, Pandith Rajendra Nakod of Bangalore, and Vidwan B Rajashekar of Bangalore will accompany the jugalbandi artistes on the mridanga, tabla, and morsing, respectively.
Ananthakrishna, the chairman of Karnataka Bank, will be the chief guest and will honor the artistes.
Guruprasad and Ambika Mohan, the son and daughter of Kadri Gopalnath, were present at the press conference.
