Manipal, June 26, 2012 : K. V. Kamath, president of ICICI Bank, who is also on the Infosys Board of Directors, has bagged the prestigious K. K. Pai National Banking Award.

Mr. Kamath bears the credit of successfully implementing the concept of inclusive banking through ICICI Bank. Besides, he played an active role in using technology to provide better banking services. K. K. Pai Trust has, therefore, decided to confer this award on Mr. Kamath in recognition and appreciation of his banking services.

About K. V. Kamath

Mr. Kamath completed his SSLC and PUC education in Mangalore and then did his engineering in NIT-K, following which he got his management degree in IIM, based in Ahmedabad.

He was appointed as the administrative director for ICICI Bank in 1996. Under his able leadership, ICICI Bank became the second largest bank in India.

He retired in 2009 and became a member of the bank’s board of directors. He was also selected as a member of the Infosys board of directors the same year. In 2011, he was elected as the president of the administrative body of Infosys.

Mr. Kamath has won a number of awards such as the CNBC Asian Business Leader of the Year Award for 2001, Forbes Asia Businessman of the Year Award for 2007, and Economics Times Business Leader of the Year. The Government of India conferred the Padmabushan on him in 2008.
