KDSS unhappy over delay in construction of Ambedkar Bhavan

Mangalore, Nov 16: The Karnataka Dalita Sangarsha Samithi (KDSS) is miffed that the district administration has still not begun constructing the Ambedkar Bhavan.

Speaking on the issue at a press meet held today, KDSS State Organizing Convener Devdas said that the KDSS has been demanding an Ambedkar Bhavan from the past several years. Although Subodh Yadav, the then DC of DK, had identified 1.61 acres of land in Derebail, the district administration has not yet starting constructing the bhavan.

He also complained that certain anti Ambedkar elements are now trying to hinder the construction work by forcing the district administration to change the location for the bhavan. He urged the Mangalore City Corporation and the district administration not to change the location as it would be an insult to Dr. Ambedkar.
Stating that the district administration has laid the foundation stone for the bhavan near Kudmul Ranga Rao Memorial in Kodialbail, he said that the KDSS is not happy with this location and wants the old location.

Several KDSS members such as P. Keshava, Ramesh Kotian, S. P. Anand, Jagadish Pandeshwar, Krishnanand D., Chandra Kumar, and Lingappa Nanthoor were present.

A number of Dalit organizations have submitted a memorandum to the district administration, demanding that construction of the bhavan should begin immediately.
