Ujire, Jan 25, 2017: Addressing media at Circuit House here on Jan 24, Tuesday, District Kannada Sahitya Parishat president Pradeep Kumar Kalkura said The 21st district Kannada Sahitya Sammelana will be held at Krishna Padvetnaya Auditorium at the premises of Sri Janardhana Temple in Madhwacharya Nagara, Ujire, from January 27 to 29.  The stage will officially be called "Dharmasthala Manjaiah Heggade Vedike". Janapada University (Haveri) vice chancellor Dr K Chinnappa Gowda will preside over the Sammelana.

January 27 will be the inauguration day. A one km-long cultural procession will be the main item to the venue in the morning, which will be followed by the inaugural function. Karnataka Sahitya Academy chairperson Malati Pattanashetty will inaugurate the sammelana. Writer K T Gatti will release books on the occasion.

Kannada Sahitya Parishat former president Harikrishna Punaroor will inaugurate the book stalls. Government Chief Whip in Legislative Council MLC, Ivan D’Souza will inaugurate the exhibition of old books. MLC Kota Srinivas Poojary will inaugurate the drawing and rangoli exhibition.

Felicitations will be offered to Sara Aboobakar, Ullal Mohan Kumar, Nityananda Karant Polali, Pa Ramakrishna Shastry, Keshava Joyisa Volalambe, Neeleshwara Padmanabha Tantri, Macharu Gopala Naika, Gangu, Kudmaru Venkatrama and Ekanatha Shetty Guruvayanakere.

He said that various sessions will be held on January 28. Also, a children’s convention will be held on the same day. Cultural programmes will be held on all the three days.

Kalkura said few of the specialties of the Sammelana : Programmes will be held in three stages simultaneously, a huge auditorium of a capacity of 1,500 seats, a stage of 60x40 and heigh enough, more than 80 stalls, a separate stall by the postal department with e-stamping and other facilities and participation of more than 500 volunteers.

The logo featuring the historic Narasimha Gada (Gadaikallu or Jamalabad Fort), art brush, Yakshagana headgear and ’Ani’ of Bhootaradhane has been designed by artist Pramod Raj.  District In-charge Minister B Ramanath Rai, Additional DC Kumar, zilla panchayat CEO Dr M R Ravi and others were present in the press meet.
