Udupi, Oct 13, 2018: The Jatha to mark the 150th birth anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi, organised by the State government, is set to make it’s entery to Udupi on October 14.
A press release here on October 12, Friday said that the jatha would comprise of messages of Gandhiji, tableaux related to him and his favourite bhajans.
The jatha, flagged off by Chief Minister H.D. Kumaraswamy in Bengaluru on October 2, will enter Karkala town at 5 p.m. on October 14.
It would leave for Mangaluru on October 15. It would leave Mangaluru at 8 a.m. on October 16 and pass through Padubidri and Kaup in Udupi district and enter Udupi city the same day. The jatha would be welcomed by the district administration at Jodu Katte here at 3 p.m. on October 16. It will leave Udupi and pass through Brahmavar at 9 a.m. and Kundapur at 11 a.m. on October 17. From Kundapur, the jatha would leave for Hosanagar in Shivamogga district.
Peopl and school students have been urged to turn up in large numbers and offer their tributes to Mahatma Gandhi.
