Kasargod : Old man convicted for raping 8 year old girl

Kasargod, Sep 26, 2013 : An elderly man has been  sentenced to five years of imprisonment for raping an eight year old girl.

The Kasargod District and Sessions Court which pronounced the judgement on September 25, Wednesday has also slapped a penalty on Rs 10,000 on the convict named KV Thomas(76), a resident of Badiadka Kedenji.

He was earlier arrested on the charges of raping an eight year old girl on August 28, 2011. It was said that he had lured the girl who was on way home from school, with a chocolate and took her to a nearby forest where he raped her.

The Badiadka police had filed the charge sheet. Thomas had pleaded to the     court for leniency in punishment considering his age. But the court said there can be no such excuse. He will now have to undergo three years of additional imprisonment if he fails to pay the penalty.
