Kavita Trust poetry contest finals to be held in Jan, 2016

Mangaluru, Nov 11, 2015 : A total of 45 finalists including 19 children  below  15 years and 25 youth in the 15 to 30  age group category have been selected for the finals of the Kavita Trust poetry competition. The finals will be held during the Kavita Fest to be held at World Konkani Centre in the city  on January 10, 2016.

The competitions  namely Cha Fra D’Costa Memorial Second All Karnataka Konkani Poetry Reciting Competition for Children, sponsored by Nelson and Lavina Rodricks, and Fifth All India Konkani Poetry Reciting Competition for Youth, sponsored by Rohan and Lavita Monteiro were held at six centres in Karnataka and Goa including Mangaluru, Bantwal, Udupi, Moodbidri, Panaji and Margao  in September and October.

The contests wherein participants  had to either recite their own composition or select the poem of any other poet by reading and understanding it aimed at making youngsters develop interest in poetry.

The Trust was founded in the year 2007 by Melwyn Rodrigues, a Sahitya Academy Award winning poet.
