Kayyar tragedy : Mortal remains of 7 family members brought to Mangaluru

Kasargod, May 14, 2017: The mortal remains of the seven members of a family  hailing from Mandekapu in Kayyar  who died in a ghastly road mishap at Karur in Tamil Nadu during the wee hours of May 13, Saturday were brought to  Mangaluru  in three ambulances and placed at the mortuary of Fr Muller Hospital.

As reported, the newly married woman Preema had not lost her life but has been injured and is undergoing treatment at a hospital at Karur. However her husband Alwyn Monteiro (29) has died in the mishap. Apart from Alwyn his brothers Herald Monteiro (50), Sathurine Monteiro (37), Herald’s wife Precilla (42), Alwyn’s sister-in-law Reema (35) and their son Rohit (22), and Sathurine’s daughter Sharon (5)  had died in the mishap.

A total of 12 members of the  family were returning after visiting Velankanni when a lorry rammed  against their car.

The injured Jeshma (26), wife of Sathurine and their daughter Sanvi are among the injured. The bodies  will be taken to Christ the King Church at Kayyar on May 15, Monday for the funeral.
