Udupi, June 20, 2015: Admissions have commenced to the new Kendriya Vidyalaya, which the people of the temple-town had been demanding for the last 18 years. The vidyalaya, sanctioned just weeks back, has started functioning at Vadabhandeshwara in Malpe. 

A release issued by Principal of the Kendriya Vidyalaya here on June 18  states  that admissions are open for classes 1 to 5.  The children of employees of the Union and State governments would get preference in admissions.

The balance seat allocations :  15 per cent seats for children belonging to Scheduled Castes, 7.5 per cent for Scheduled Tribes, and 3 per cent for differently abled children. Local residents will be given preference in admission.    Each  class will have 40 students, the total number of seats at the Vidyalaya  is 200. The school will function from 8.30 a.m. to 2.40 p.m. and would follow the CBSE syllabus.

The admission fee is Rs. 25 and monthly fee is Rs. 500. Students getting seats under the Right to Education (RTE) Act need not pay any fees. The last date for submitting applications for admissions is June 27. The classes are set to start on July 13.
