Konkani Prathibha Spordo receives massive response

Dubai, Apr 27: Music buffs have responded enthusiastically to the Konkani Prathiba Spordo organized by Mangalore Konkans in Dubai. About 150 singers will participate in this singing contest on April 30, Friday at Dubai GEM School. 

Six singers each will be selected from the men’s and the women’s category to participate in the “Gulf Voice of Mangalore,” one of the biggest reality shows in the history of Konkani music. The winners will not only receive the title, but also a cash prize of Rs 1 lakh each. 

Valerian Peris, the coordinator of the event, said that the current year’s event has 30 more entries in the GVM preliminaries, adding that 30 applications had to be rejected because they registered after the deadline. Peris said that 60 entries in the men’s and women’s categories; 50 in the children’s categories; and 40 in the duets, groups, and family categories have been accepted.  

The event will commence at 9 a.m. and participants are required to report no later than 8:45 a.m. The participants for the children’s category should report at 2:45 p.m. and the contest will commence at 3:15 p.m. 

Complimentary lunch will be served at the venue.
