Konkanrail cheers children suffering cancer

Mangaluru, Nov 08, 2014:   In a haertfelt  effort to bring cheer to cancer affected children, Konkan Railway has arranged a complimentary train trip for children with cancer on November 5 from Mumbai to Goa and return journey on November 8.

The children, undergoing treatment for cancer at Tata Memorial Centre, started their Goa trip from CSTM station on Wednesday in CSTM – Mangalore Express. There are 38 children accompanied by attendants and paramedic staff from Tata Hospital.

The children, who are in the age group of 3 to 16 years, were upbeat about the train journey over the picturesque Konkan Railway route. With joy in their hearts and cheerful faces, they waived to all as they boarded the train.

Konkan Railway has been giving this complimentary train journey in 3-tier AC coach to such children from Tata Memorial Centre every year since 2007. On the occasion, Konkan Railway distributes gift hampers to the children and also extends complimentary onboard hospitality to them and their escorts during the to and fro journey, states a press release.
