Kuthar residents complain of overcrowding, demand extra bus

Kuthar residents complain of overcrowding, demand extra bus

Mangalore Today News Network

Mangalore, July 16, 2012: The people of Ambla Mogeru in Kuthar blocked the road and prevented Route Number 44 from plying from Mangalore to Elyarpadavu on July 16, Monday.

Ibrahim, president of the Ambla Mogeru zone of the District Youth Federation of India (DYFI), delivered the protest address on the occasion. He said that Route Number 44 is usually fully occupied by school children at its Madaka stop, leaving no space for any other passenger. Stating that over 50 fifty students travel by this bus daily with some of them even sit on its roof, he said that this is dangerous as one boy fell from the bus because of overloading.

Further, he said that, when the bus reaches its last stop, it is full of students and has no place for any other commuter. Although the local people had brought this issue to the notice of RTO Mallikarjun a fortnight back, he has done nothing to solve the problem, he alleged.

Since the concerned authorities have done nothing to solve their problem or satisfy their need for an extra bus, the people of Ambla Mogeru organized a protest and did not allow any student to board the bus. As a result of this protest, school and college students missed their classes.

Speaking further about this issue, he said that the local people spoke to the police commissioner, who said that he will conduct an inquiry. He also said that the RTO sent a KSRTC bus to the area at 10:00 a.m. although the local people had specifically informed the RTO that they needed an extra bus at 8:00 a.m.
