Mangalore, Mar 15: Larsen and Toubro, the prominent engineering and construction company, announced that it has won an order worth Rs 2,035 crore from Mangalore Petrochemicals, an Oil and Natural Gas Corporation (ONGC) unit run by the state of Karnataka.
The order involves the setting up of a new complex for the manufacture of aromatic products such as benzene and paraxylene at Mangalore Special Economic Zone (MSEZ).
This project is said to be the largest single paraxylene unit in India. Reportedly, it will be ready for commissioning by Dec 2012 and will involve 9 processing units.
The hydrocarbons business group of the company has secured the engineering, procurement, and construction contract.
