Labourers hospitalized after falling into underground tank

angalore, Aug 14, 2012 : A labourer fell into the underground tank of a fish meal plant in Ullal at around 9:00 p.m. last night. According to Manjunath Shetty, inspector for Ullal, the labourer, who was employed at Span Aquatic Marine Products in Kotepur, Ullal, tried cleaning the underground tank, but fell into the tank because he was overcome by the foul smell and lack of oxygen. Four others, who tried to rescue him, had to be hospitalized.

 

Labourers Basavaraj and Chandra of Gadag, Sajith of Orissa, and two local labourers are recovering in various hospitals. Two of them have been declared fit for discharge while the other three are recovering in Unity Hospital.
