Mangalore, April 25: B Janardhan Poojary, the former union minister and senior leader of the Congress Party, declared that BJP leader L K Advani should resign from his post as the member of the parliament because he faces criminal charges with regard to the Babri Masjid demolition. He was speaking to press people at a press conference held in Mangalore.
Poojary said that Sushma Swaraj, the opposition leader of the Lok Sabha, and Advani were criticizing Shashi Tharoor, the former union minister of state for external affairs, although there are no corruption or criminal charges against him.
Accusing Sushma Swaraj of protecting the Reddy brothers, who are openly looting the natural resources of Karnataka and its treasury, he said that the Reddy brothers have declared in public that Sushma Swaraj is their savior.
Santhosh Hegde, the Lokayukta Justice, has filed a 1008-page report regarding the illegal activities of the Reddy brothers in Bellary. A number of reports against the Reddy brothers were pending in cabinet. Even the Supreme Court and the High Court have criticized the Reddy brothers. The chief minister of Karnataka had openly admitted that the Reddys are involved in illegal mining activities in Bellary. In spite of this, Sushma Swaraj is protecting them, he alleged and added that even the chief minister has withdrawn all criminal cases pending against the Reddys.
Referring to the Bangalore stadium blasts, he said that CM Yeddyruappa went to Malaysia and Singapore instead of visiting the stadium. He challenged the CM to explain his actions.
Poojary also said that there is every sign of the BJP launching another Operation Kamala in GP elections. He alleged that the party will unscrupulously purchase elected GP members.
Congress leaders Harikrishna Bantwal, M G Hegde, and Suresh Ballal were present for the press conference.
