Lineman electrocuted while replacing transformer

Udupi, Aug 4, 2012: A lineman died on duty at Chitpady on Aug 3, Friday. He was repairing a line when he was electrocuted to death.

The deceased is Bailappa (23) of Bagalkot, who was employed on a contract basis by Dinesh Shettigar, a private contractor.

Bailappa had climbed an electric pole to replace a transformer when the unfortunate incident took place.

The police say that 8 linemen were on duty in that area when Bailappa died.
