Mangalore, Feb 12, 2013 : In a tragic incident, a young lorry driver who had sustained serious injuries after he and the cleaner were reportedly attacked by the owner recently, has succumbed to his injuries in the hospital on February 11, Monday.
The driver Srikanth (23) and cleaner Shivaji (22) from Haveri, were reportedly beaten up by a group of assailants including the lorry owner Lakshmisha, after the duo had taken the lorry to Murdeshwar on February 4 to meet a friend without the knowledge of the owner.
But to their misfortune, the lorry had met with an accident the next day and the same was informed to the owner. It is said Lakshmisha had then rushed to Murdeshwar along with some friends and then took the duo to a deserted location near Maravoor Railway Bridge near the interlock factory of one Prakash Shetty, where the two were beaten up and dumped in a tempo. The locals who saw the two informed the police who hospitalized them.
Bajpe police who registered a case of murder has arrested the lorry owner and four others including Kiran, Ashwin Shetty, Shilash, Ashwith and Bipin Rai, a lawyer. Three other accused Ranjith, Leslie Fernandes and Prakash were absconding. One of them, Bipin has been granted interim bail as he was getting engaged.
