MCC serves notice on company following worker’s death

Mangalore, Nov 23, 2012 : Following the death of a construction worker in a construction site landslide, the Mangalore City Corporation (MCC) temporarily suspended the license of Essel Heights, a building under construction at Derebail, and issued a notice to Somayaji Estates Pvt. Ltd.

Dr. Harish Kumar, commissioner of MCC, said that action will be taken after Somayaji Estates Pvt. Ltd. responds to the notice.

Vardut Mondal, a construction worker from West Bengal, died in the landslide, which occurred close to the Essel Heights construction site on Tuesday. Besides, six more workers were injured and admitted to AJ Hospital. The police say that one of them is in the ICU while the others are on the road to recovery.

The police have registered a case against the engineer and the construction company.
