MIC organizes International GCA Satellite Symposium

Udupi, Nov 18: The Manipal Institute of Communication (MIC) will organize the International Global Communication Association (GCA) Satellite Symposium on Nov 28, 2009, on the topic “Rethinking Media Manifesto for an Equitable World Order” at Akash, Fortune Inn Valley View, Manipal. 

Dr M V Kamath, the honorary director of MIC will preside over the symposium. Dr Tapas Ray, the director of MIC, will make the welcome speech. Dr Sundar Sarukkai, professor and dean of School of Humanities and head of the Centre for Philosophy, National Institute of Advanced Studies, Bangalore, will chair all the sessions. 

Scholars of international repute will present their papers at the symposium. The paper presentation will be followed by a panel discussion, which will be moderated by Prof Varadeesh Hiregange, MIC. 

Dr. Yahya R Kamalipour, the head of the Department of Communication and Creative Arts and the director of the Centre for Global Studies, Purdue University Calumet, USA; Dr Payal Arora, assistant professor in International Communication and Media at Erasmus University, Rotterdam, Netherlands; Dr Orayb Najjar, professor of Communication at the Northern Illinois University; and Dr Liu Kang, the director of program in Chinese Media and Communication Studies, Duke University will present papers at the symposium. 

This symposium is an extension of the GCA India Conference 2009, organized at Bangalore on Nov 26 - 27, 2009 on the topic “Global Village - Are We There Yet?” The purpose of the conference is to provide a common platform for researchers and academic institutions from all over to world to meet and foster collaboration, research, and dialogue and to explore opportunities in communication development, globalization, mass media, and international cooperation.
