Mangaluru/Manipal, Feb 03, 2015: A student of Manipal Institute of Technology died after he fell from the fourth floor of an apartment here on Sunday.

According to the police, T. Praneet Reddy (20) a second year student of computer science, had gone to meet other students in an apartment on the District Offices Complex Road here.

At around 3.30 a.m., he fell from the balcony of the room on the fourth floor and was rushed to the Kasturba Hospital here.

However, he died at around 7.30 a.m. on the same day.

Praneet’s father, T. Rajashekhar Reddy, in his complaint to police, stated that he suspected that the death of his son might have taken place due to the other students pushing him from the balcony.

A complaint had been registered under Section 173-C of the Code of Criminal Procedure at the Manipal police station and investigation is on, the police said.

Dies in accident

The pillion rider of a motorbike was killed on the spot and its driver was injured after a fish lorry and the bike collided at Adka on the national highway 66 under Ullal police limits on Monday.

Police gave the name of the deceased as Shashidhar Kinya (35), a carpenter by profession. His friend Gulshan, who was driving the motorbike, was injured and admitted to a hospital in the city. The fish lorry was on its way from Thokkottu to Kasaragod and the bike was approaching from Kotekar.

According to police, rash and negligent driving of the lorry driver resulted in the accident.
