Mangalore, May 21, 2012: Malathi M. Hegde, wife of Padmabhushan Dr. B. M. Hegde, former vice-chancellor of Manipal University, died this morning in Mangalore at the age of 69. She is survived by husband, a son, two daughters, and several friends and relatives. Mrs. Hegde was admitted to Unity Hospital a few days back.

The family performed her final rites at Lady Hill in Mangalore this afternoon. Tonse Jaykrishna M. Shetty, president of Jayashrikrishna Parisar Premi Samithi; Vishwanatha U. Mada, former president; Jaya C. Suvarna, president of National Billava Association; Vasudeva R. Kotian, working president of Bharath Bank; Dharmapal U. Devadiga, vice president of World Tulu Sammelana (Mumbai), and many others expressed their condolences.
