Man accused of killing wife escapes from police custody

Belthangady, Jan 28, 2014 : A man from Adilu in Dharmasthala who was arrested in connection with the case of suspicious death of his wife, has reportedly escaped from police custody on January 27, Monday. It is learnt, he managed to give the cops a slip when he was being taken to Belthangady Government Hospital for medical examination.

Manjushree (19) who was admitted to the Wenlock Hospital in Mangalore after she suffered burns in her husband’s house on January 16, had  died a week ago. It is learnt, the two were married just three months ago after Manjushree’s parents on coming to know of their love affair decided to get them married off.

The police who had initially registered a case of unnatural death, registered a case of murder after Manjushree’s uncle who suspected it to be a murder,  lodged a complaint with the SP. The SP has now directed the ASP to investigate the case and Satish was eventually arrested.

 It has now come to light that Satish had doused kerosene oil on Manjushree and set her ablaze.

Police have launched a search for Satish.
