Udupi , June 3, 2016: According to the Udupi Traffic Police, Nitin Acharya was riding a motorcycle with Ujwal as pillion rider from Brahmavar to Udupi on National Highway 66 near Nittur at around 9.45 a.m. on June 2 Thursday, when he hit a pedestrian —Govindappa (42)—a migrant worker from Davangere. The impact was so great that Govindappa got thrown some distance away and died on the spot.
Nitin lost control over the motorcycle and it hit the road divider and then an electric pole. Nitin, who was severely injured, was rushed to Kasturba Hospital. Ujwal suffered minor injuries. A case has been registered.
