Mandd Sobhann, an organization fostering Konkani language and culture, will present a unique show by Usha Uthup at St Aloysius Centenary Grounds on December 20. The progamme would be titled “Kashmir to Kanyakumari.”
The music show will be multi-lingual, and Usha Uthup will sing in 19 different languages. The show will also include dances from different parts of India. This show is the first of its kind in the world because of its multi lingual nature, the message of peace and harmony it conveys, and the concept of unity on which it is based. The entire show will be fashioned as a train journey from Kashmir to Kanyakumari in an imaginary train called “Ekta Express,” which means “train of unity.”
Usha Uthup will be accompanied by prominent musicians of Kolkata. Eight professional dance troupes will present authentic dances from different parts of India. Harish Bhimani, the golden voice of India, will compere the show in both English and Hindi. This show is for people of all cultures, the first of its kind in Mangalore.
The purpose of the show is not only to foster peace and harmony, but also to raise funds for Kalaangann, the Konkani Heritage Center.
